I was just hanging out with some of my buds and we were saying how hard it was to find a decent guy these days. Although all of us are Chinese, it doesn’t mean that we actually like Chinese guys. One of us is currently going out with a Malay guy who is 10 times better than her Chinese ex-boyfriend. Put together, we have gone out with Indian, Malay and mixed guys. It’s even hard for some of us to get a Chinese guy interested in us. We neither are ugly, stupid nor are we snobs. In fact we’re smart, funny, witty and most importantly, have our own opinions. Are guys afraid of that? Specifically Chinese guys? If the answer is yes, I happen to find it sad. Why? They seem to find us invisible whereas guys from other races see us a sirens, beckoning to them.
Maybe it’s because most guys tend to prefer the devoted and submissive girlfriend. We on the other hand will kick those butts who try to mess with our heads or force their opinions on us. The no nonsense kind of independent modernized woman that will make you wash your own pants if you’ve soiled them. Chinese men need to be more liberal and open-minded about women and relationships. What kind of satisfaction can you get if you control your girlfriend’s actions? Great relationships are ones where both parties get equal say on the matter and decisions are made to obtain the best outcomes.
So yeah, until we find men who can appreciate who we are, we will continue being witty, intelligent, beautiful and independent women.
