El Cheapo CDs

Never underestimate a good deal. When items go for an unbelievably low price, it doesn't mean that it sucks/spoilt etc. Get the picture? Anyways, I went to Doulos last Wednesday with a friend to check out what was available on board. My ultimate goal on that trip was to buy some nice Christian comics which were unavailable here. To my utter disappointment, there were none sold onboard. I was rather devastated, and the hot weather did not help one bit. I just wasn't interested in the offerings of books onboard. However, as I roamed by the Music section, I saw a lot of CDs and Tapes going at an unbelievable low price. As I've not heard of these bands before, I was a little hesitant to purchase any of them. But the urge was so great I couldn't resist. In the end, I went home with 5 CDs for an unbelievable RM40! To make the deal even sweeter, 4 of the 5 were actually really good. I didn't like one of the albums...I never had a thing for Spanish Gospel Pop anyways...

On Being Difficult

I have wondered on so many occasions as to what God thinks of me. Besides knowing that He loves me unconditionally, I still wonder how He is what He is; patient, loving, forgiving and only wanting the best for me. I’ll admit that I think I drive God up the wall sometimes. I bug him constantly to take away all the difficult situations in my life and to bless me all the time. Selfish? Yes, I’ll admit that it is wanting that all the time but I can’t help myself. I know for sure that trials are put specifically for us to grow and be strong but sometimes, I feel like giving up and shutting down. There’s only so much I can take. I guess that’s why it’s vital that I have to learn to rely on God’s strength and not my own. I will only end up as a failure if I do things my way. This is something I have been struggling with for a long time. In difficult times, when I cannot take it anymore, I surrender wholly to Him. But I tend to forget that in situations that I can handle by my own, I also need to surrender them to Him. I have to let Him be in control in every aspect of my life.

It's Better To Stay At Home

I guess one can never avoid being scared of new situations although they may have lived long. I am now in that position where the decisions that I have to make overwhelm me so much so that I feel so paralyzed with fear. I thought after finally sending the tuition fee deposit to the University and finalizing my admission would get rid of a huge burden but I was wrong. I am now faced with the rather grim situation of finding housing. Being on a roll, I decided that I would start applying for housing immediately today. However, as soon as I saw the rates for on-campus housing, I honestly felt a small sharp pain in my chest. It was horrendously expensive and it included meals at the cafeteria which was unavoidable. Being Malaysian, I cannot imagine facing the prospect of eating pasta, burgers and pizza for every meal of the year. I’d die!

Therefore, I was left to try and Google up any available spaces off-campus which would not burn a hole in my parents pocket and have amenities for me to do some experimental cooking. I found several places but they were around CAD550 to CAD400 a month for rental. However, true to being Asian/Chinese, the kiasu, kiamsiap and kiasi side of one’s parents would eventually crop up. They wanted the place to be cheap, male-free (no wonder I’m still single after so many years) and good. Sheesh, might as well wish for a rent-free apartment. Forgive my skepticism but to find places like these is nothing short of a miracle. So basically, I’m hoping for one. Help?

(P/s I did manage to find a place going for CAD375 and I’m going to e-mail the lady soon tomorrow. Please God, let me find a place to stay (soon!) in accordance with your will for me. Amen.)

$ $ $

For the most part of my long holiday, I’ve been lazing on my arse, watching TV and sleeping. Two weeks ago, I received a job offer from Yvonne to work for PenDrive. The pay was too good to say no. RM 150 a day for 3 days and that did not include commission. In the end, I got hired to promote and explain new software for that company at the Pikom software exhibition. In the whole process, I managed to overcome my fear of approaching and talking to complete strangers (cute guys included) and made several friends in the process.

I managed to get to know 2 other girls who was working with us and Niumal and Jason. The funny thing was that Niumal seemed like an older version of someone I knew but couldn’t tolerate. Another thing, I managed to meet a rather dashing fellow from Macedonia. Let’s just say that his compliments made my day the whole time I was there! Hopefully I will be able to work again with these awesome people at the upcoming PC Fair next month. I’ll keep you posted.

Headache!!!

I know its been ages since I last wrote to keep myself and yourself updated with my progress on the whole University crisis. Sometimes you wonder how some people can be so ignorant and stupid at the same time. Telling them the same thing over and over still does not make any impact. I’ve been trying to tell the University of Alberta that I can’t possibly provide them with what they want of me. To make matters worse, they said that they have not received the transcript that Taylor’s was supposed to send to them. However, I already gave up long ago on ever getting into that pain in the arse University. Since Trent has so eagerly accepted me, I’ve already decided on Trent. To be honest, I’ll be just happy to go to any University to do what I want to do.

However, recently, my mum made me write to Alberta to ask them why my application has not been evaluated yet. I was so irritated by the whole matter because I have to make last minute and rushed decisions. The thing was that the deadline to submit payment for my tuition fee for Trent was on the 19 of July and that was just too late if I decide to change my mind last minute. Anyways, I have already received a reply from Alberta saying that they will try and evaluate my application with whatever documents that they have. But tomorrow, I am sending my tuition fees to Trent and apply for housing at the same time.

I’ll be so relieved when this whole stupid issue blows over and finalizes itself!!
