Shenanigans!

So after my roomie left for the weekend, I slowly lost my voice. It was really bad yesterday because I could hardly speak. It is much better today and although I sounded like, I quote Calvin, "The snake from Harry Potter"...I still managed to have fun over the weekend. I cooked BKT again and as usual, we had to cook extra rice as everyone stuffed themselves. If I don't get a job over here, I can always open a restaurant serving authentic Klang BKT. Despite the fact that a lot of people make jokes about Klang and how ulu it is etc., I am indeed proud to be from Klang.

I was supposed to go to work today but my boss sent me home because she thought I needed to take a rest from the way my voice sounded. I managed to finish writing my paper which is due tomorrow but then again, I have still lots to do after that. I hope I get everything done on time because I was really busy over the weekend and didn't have time to finish my work.

I went to attend my friend's baptism and he goes to this small church downtown that hold their services in a club/bar. I thought that was kind of cool because although the people who attended the church was not your everyday clean cut conventional Christian, they were still passionate about living for God and spreading the gospel. That was an experience itself...going to the bar to attend church.

I just had a visit from someone who wasn't on my list of favorite people. He actually invited me to watch him sing on Saturday when he came by sometime last week, so today he asked me how it went...assuming I went. I told him I didn't know because I didn't go as I was cooking BKT instead. BKT trumps everything else!

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks
People put me down 'cause
That's the side of town I was born in

I love her
She loves me
But I don't fit in her society
Lord have mercy on a boy from down in the boondocks

Ev'ry night I watch the light
From the house upon the hill
I love a little girl who lives up there
And I guess I always will
But I don't dare knock on her door 'cause
Her daddy is my boss man
So I'll just have to be content
To see her whenever I can

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks
People put me down 'cause
That's the side of town I was born in

I love her
She loves me
But I don't fit in her society
Lord have mercy on a boy from down in the boondocks

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks

One fine day I'll find a way
To move from this old shack
I'll hold my head up like a king
And I never never will look back
Until that morning I'll work and slave
And I'll save every dime
But tonight she'll have to steal away
To see me one more time

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks
People put me down 'cause
That's the side of town I was born in

I love her
She loves me
But I don't fit in her society
Lord have mercy on a boy from down in the boondocks
Lord have mercy on a boy from down in the boondocks
Lord have mercy on a boy from down in the boondocks

I prefer the Martin Gore version actually - it wasn't released officially, so you can't find it on jewtube. If you're lucky, you might find it on itunes.

Anyway, unique music plug of the day:
