Stranded

It happened again. The second time in less than 2 years which made me wonder what was the probability of such a thing happening the second time around. My desktop refused to turn on yesterday and I’m pretty sure it’s fried on the inside. The difference this time around is that it’s no longer under warranty and I actually have a backup to work with; my laptop. However, after overcoming the first wave of frustration due to the desktop, I was hit by another one immediately. My broadband connection and phone line was out. To make matters more interesting, I had to contact my friend urgently regarding our air tickets to the US and I couldn’t reach her on her cell phone. I had her house number, but it was on the e-mail she sent to me, sitting in my inbox…online…where I couldn’t reach it.

You could imagine how stressed out and frustrated I was then. In my mind, plans for an attack on Dell, Intel and Telekom were forming but thankfully, they never took place. I needed time to chill… The calls started today, after my phone line got fixed. First to Dell and then to Telekom. It would cost no less than RM 620 to fix my desktop and it would take at least 2 working days for Telekom to get my broadband working again. However, the good news is that I managed to call my friend whose house number I procured from a mutual friend after a few additional phone calls.

So here I am, stranded once again. Writing this on my laptop and saving it before posting it once I get my Internet connection back to normal again. Time has been passing rather slowly today…no blogging, no IM, no surfing…just bumming around with nothing much to do but watch TV or read. At least I’ll be going out for the most part of tomorrow to keep me occupied. It’s a good thing that my laptop was not the one that got fried…I’d cry my eyes out. Can’t really blame anyone for the incident I suppose. The first time around, I thought it was one of those freak incidents but now, I’m not so sure anymore. I hate it when I’m stranded, stuck and marooned!
